Visit Jenny and her family

A year ago we did Jenny, Jens, Viola & Frank's home in the south of Sweden. Love the home, so prestige less, fun and without anxiety. Now it is featured in the Swedish interior magazine, Hus & Hem.

Life.

This is the first fleamarket find in months. Especially the lady is sweet. Hope she is sensitive, listening well to what her child is saying. I have been thinking a lot lately about all the musts and stress there is to our society today. So sad. This weekend I found a bunch of beautiful texts, well-written and worth considering. If you understand Swedish, please take your time to read some of them, www.thinktext.se.

My extended family

I hardly ever leave a fleamarket without a small - some would call it useless - thing in plastic, porcelain or metal. They are placed here and there throughout the home. I have some in our liquor cabinet. Not so practical if you ask my husband. The small friends fall easily. Well, well, I will never stop buying these useless little creatures. They make me happy.

Nice and pink!

We have a small transition room between the upper hallway and the living room. This is a "creative spot" with pens, coloured paper, glue stick, pearl beads, etc. We wanted to frame the area, make it more like a room, so we gave it a colour of its own - pink. It turned out really well, a nice contrast to all the white walls in our house.

Sunny spring Sunday

I was going to work today, but I decided not to. The sun is shining so I have been out all day, doing gardening-things without knowing what I am doing. Either I killed the bushes or I made them look younger. Well, well, this is a perfect Sunday anyhow. Coffee in the sun and kids running in and out.

My space

Where my workspace is, used to be a messy wardrobe. Our clothes and stuff are now in our bedroom, in closets that are meant for clothes - terribly ugly, but very functional. This is the only place in the house that I call mine. My husband has his music studio, the kids have their own rooms, and this is all mine. When the door is closed, mum's working. Don't disturb, unless you are sad, sick, got hurt or did something that you are so proud of that you cannot wait to tell.

Dear companion

Today I have been working from home. Normally I do that all the time, but since w7 I have been back at IKEA, working as an editor/co-ordinator sort of. Great fun, super nice people. In week 15 I am back home again. Working from home means having this guy around. He is such a pleasant company.

Inspiration!

From Aftonbladet Härligt hemma. Picture: Jenny Brandt

I have finally had my new notice board fixed to the wall in my small small office. Made from "Tretex", covered with a white coarse, still flexible, fabric. I got inspired by Sabine at Sisterbrandt design studio that I visited a while ago. The notice board is still quite empty, but eventually it will get crowded with things that inspire me. A picture of my dad (R.I.P) and me was the first thing I put up on the board.

A collector's fantastic home

One of "our" homes is featured in vtwonen's Scandinavië special this month. The whole magazine looks great with beautiful homes and tips & ideas on nice things to do in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen.

Bandit girl!

Almost a year ago, me and Jenny went to Jennie "Kollijox" and her family. They have a really nice - playful and fun - home, that will soon be featured in Aftonbladet Härligt hemma. I'll let you know when. This super sweet woman, not only designs children's shoes, she is also an artist and a great blogger.

Today I received my Bandit girl. Here is a close-up of her. Totally in love!

Bedrooms

The most difficult room to style and take photos of is the bedroom. Definately. The whole bed can never be shown, unless it is going to look like a big boat or something. Well well. In comparison to Ukraine & Putin, Syria, etc - it is not a big deal. So let's leave it. Back to the kids and Saturday.

(Most things are second hand. Besides the quilt cover and the spanish man from Hay, picture to the right made by Berit Mogensen Lopez, ceiling lamp from Lagerhaus, "key-beads" from Stoff & Stil.)

Outside the box

A birthday card made by Irma. With the birthday-girl's name written on the teeth. Why not? Brilliant!

A swallow in pine

I got this sweet wall lamp the other day from Andreas at Donebyhand. I think I will let it stay unpainted. Most things have a colour in our home, so this would be a nice contrast.

The sun, the light

Today the sun is shining on Raku doll. Spring light is the best. Love it!

Kids

Doing jobs together with Jenny, means working with kids. It's fun!

Just recently, I was involved in a photo shoot for Geggamoja children's clothes autumn/winter 2014. Approx. 14 kids in 15 hours. A fun challenge. It turned out really well. The kids were great.

A couple of months ago, we did a children's playroom. The lovely posters are from Copenhagen Zoo. Can be found here www.cphkidswear.com. Rug in the background from Urban Outfitters.

I'm so looking forward to the new book about children's rooms, Rum för kidsen by Isabelle McAllister, photos by Jenny Brandt. Released March 11th. (will hopefully be translated into English one day)

All the best!

Visit homes

The thing I like the most about my job is meeting all these nice and fun people. The visits I did, together with photographer Jenny, last summer/autumn are now starting to get published. Great fun to see how it turned out! I really feel privileged to be invited into people's homes.

In January, we had features in Elle (Norway), Boligliv (Denmark) and Aftonbladet Härligt hemma (Sweden); The graphic designer Sabine from Sisterbrandt. Frida who runs the design studio Modelform. Right now you can see the great collector and flea market-pro Maria in the magazines Retro (Sweden) and Vtwonen (The Netherlands).

Very sweet women and families with nice and fun homes! Check them out, it's hard not to get inspired! I especially like the way they work with colours throughout the home. Spot on.

If you know somebody who is nice and cool and lives in an awesome place, please let me know.

Take care out there!

Say hello to Mustard!

Last March I decided to quit my job at IKEA and start my own business - Mustard. Today I am a freelance stylist/magazine writer, among other things.

This blog will focus on Mustard and the things I do for a living. I am sure some posts will be about my family - Måns, Vera 13, Timo 11, Irma 6, mini schnauzer Mattis - and our life in the south of Sweden.

Now I am going to figure out how this tool works and get my blog started. The first thing is to get rid of the grey box behind my logo. I wonder why it is there.

Well, well, see you soon!
